TALA KATE &
THE POWER OF DREAMS

Tala Kate and the Power of Dreams

Tala Kate came to America from the Philippines at the age of 12, learned English, and became an American citizen. She is an ambitious, motivated woman who has overcome myriad difficulties. Tala never stopped dreaming of a brighter future, even as she faced insurmountable challenges moving from the Philippines to the USA. She is currently studying physical therapy. Besides her desire to help others overcome health obstacles as a physical therapist, one of her dreams is to become a professional artist. Painting is her passion. Throughout her life, she has always made time to express herself on canvas and paper.

Tala has been through a lot. Raised in her early years in the Philippines by her single biological mother and adopted by loving parents in the USA, she faced severe challenges in the transition from one country to another. Her paintings represent her will to survive, her unique vision of the world, and her dreams.

As an artist, Tala prefers charcoal, oil-based paint, and watercolor. “I like to paint during the day when it is brightest,” she says, choosing subjects that reflect whimsy, nostalgia, and imagination. Her introspective nature is manifested in her art, in which she seeks constantly to explore new themes and refine her technique.
