Respecting the Customers Who Have Supported Clarins and Macy’s

I began my journey with Clarins at Macy’s Ala Moana in March 2026, and since starting this position, I have been learning more deeply about the relationship between beauty, customer service, education, and retail.

I want to share something important with my community—especially the longtime and older customers who have worked hard throughout their lives and have continued to support Clarins and Macy’s.

These customers are more than transactions.

They have built relationships with beauty professionals, trusted brands, and supported retail businesses for generations. Their loyalty deserves to be recognized and respected.

Macy’s has a history spanning more than 100 years. Many customers have developed longstanding relationships with Macy’s, including customers who choose to use the Macy’s Card for purchases made within Macy’s.

From my perspective, customer service should always begin with education and respect.

My educational background in Accounting has taught me the importance of understanding value, budgeting, financial responsibility, and informed decision-making. As a licensed beauty operator in the State of Hawai‘i, I also understand the importance of educating clients about products and helping them determine what is appropriate for their individual beauty needs.

These two areas of my background influence the way I work.

I don’t believe good selling means simply encouraging someone to purchase something.

I believe good selling means listening to the customer, understanding their needs, explaining the products honestly, respecting their budget, and allowing them to make an informed decision.

Since beginning my position at Clarins Macy’s Ala Moana, I have also become more conscious of how different people may interpret the way I work. At times, I have felt that my professional approach has received unusual attention or scrutiny.

I want to be careful about making assumptions about anyone’s intentions. I do not want to accuse an individual or an organization of targeting me without evidence.

Instead, I want to stand for something constructive:

Professionalism should not be confused with being difficult.
Customer education should not be confused with pressure.
Entrepreneurship should not diminish someone’s commitment to their employment.
And having an independent professional identity should not prevent someone from doing their job with integrity.

My goal is to continue developing myself as a beauty professional while also bringing the discipline of my accounting background, my experience as a licensed beauty operator, and my entrepreneurial perspective into everything I do.

Most importantly, I want to honor the customers who have supported Clarins and Macy’s for many years.

To the longtime customers, including our elders who worked hard to build their lives and communities: thank you for your loyalty, your trust, and the relationships you have created with the people who serve you.

I believe the future of retail should continue to be built on something that never goes out of style:

Trust. Education. Respect. And genuine relationships with customers.
